Opps, I just sent this message tagged Tajikistan.
Now that I decided to go to Karbi, thanks to your advice, now I need help choosing a hotel. Will be staying three nights at the end of November.
I would like something on the beach, centrally located within walking distance to the action, food stalls and shops. Price range including taxes a breakfast, from $100. to $130. per night. Clean up-to-date bathroom and a very good breakfast, being we don't eat lunch.
I've check out a few hotels from Fodor's guide book, not a big selection.
Golden Beach Resort
Railay Bay Resort
Phra Nang Inn Hotel
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Krabi town does not have many great hotels. Most of the better hotels are at Ao Nang (30 mins away). I've stayed at the City Hotel in Krabi town(OK, budget quality)opposite the night market several times & on the river at Riverside Hotel which is very pleasant.
Check out www.sawadee.com for hotels & guest feedback. If you are staying in Ao Nang I recommend Ao Nang Villa, right on Ao Nang beach, great food & nice pools. Ao Nang is a central good choice and has lots of local food vendors & good shopping.
Railay is pleasant however we felt a little stranded last time we visited there. You need to get a longtail (taxi mafia) and these are now controlled by a tight little group who charge way too much for the transfer. Your budget is high so maybe you don't mind!
I've stayed at Railay Bay resort, however not recently so check out tripadvisor also for some current reviews. Not many local food places etc. on Railay Bay. mainly tourist restaurants. Good luck
