The Sheraton might be good with the kids but the beach isn't brilliant, a nice place is the 'Tubkaak Resort', on all accounts brilliant reports and we have young kids and were there late last year, very nice, a but pricey but not if you compare with the Sheraton. You might considor splitting you time with a few days on nearby Phi Phi, I can recommend Charlie resort, now this is not a class hotel, it is 'basic' but the upside is fun beacside cabins, friendly service, and a real tropical island feel, price wise $50 max is what you are looking at.
You have not said time of year, do avoid May through October as that is the peak rainy season/monsoon time.

For lots of photos plus links to 'real' reviews that are recent try this site, it's local and you will see more pics and more choice for Krabi/Phi Phi than usual because it's local and has just about every single accommodation there is, good for seeking all the in depth information and seeing what others think too

We have similar age kids to you so maybe I can answer any 'travel' questions for that age group for traveling around in Thailand.

We actually plan to go in the end of October and beginning of November. Our planning so far:

22 - 25 October Bangkok Mariott and Spa
25 - 29 October Krabi Sheraton
29 - 31 Octorber Phi Phi Cabana
31 - 6 November Phuket Laguna Beach

Shuld we go this time of year or is it waist of money.

We also have to choose between Thai or Finnair, Thai costs about 300 US more for us.

Please replay all of your thoughts about it.

Thank's

Sounds nice !! Where are you flying 'from', I guess saying a choice of Thai or Finnair you are flying from Western Europe?? Have you tried Gulf Air or Qatar Airways? Both very cheap but great service, also Eva Air flies from London to Bangkok and their Evergreen de-luxe Economy is great value.
I am lucky because a tropical storm or downpour in a tropical beach area is not something just to frown at, the fresh scents in the air and the cooling of the air is wonderful. Grab a great novel and sit or a verandah listening to the rain, it's a tonic in itself. After steamy hot days there is nothing like a tropical shower!!

Just to emphasise of the rain front, end October is when the seasons change, and it tends to change very very quick, the rain tends to be hard and fast, and of course in the tropics within munites of it stopping the sun is out and everything is nice, new, green and fresh. It is not like drizzling boring depressing rain you might get in say Europe, it tends to slurge down for a short while and then it gives up and goes away. It's just changing mental thoughts a small 'click' if it rains and simply don't let it worry you, like many things, it's only a bother if you 'let it be'...Good luck and I am sure you will have a brilliant time.
