KL Best places to buy copy dvd's , cd's, watches, bags etc
Hi there,
I will be going to KL later in the year and am wondering where the best markets, bazaars etc are to buy copy items.
Thanks in advance

Where-ever did you get the idea such things were available in Malaysia??
Imbi plaza used to be the place to go for that kind of thing, but don't expect to find too much. They have these two black labs on loan from the US trained to sniff out CD material, and they've been wreaking havoc on the pirating industry there.
There never was much of a knock-off designerware market in Malaysia, at least not compared to Thailand and Indonesia. You can try the night market on Petaling street.

DVD pirates in Malaysia were hard hit recently due to seizure of hundreds of '000s disks. They were located with help of 2 dogs loaned from the US. Apparently the dogs were so successful that there was a contract put out for the dogs. The dogs are now now in Manila.

Hi there,
I was in KL 6 years ago and bought many copy items. As it was a while ago, I wanted to check what the situation was now.
we are staying at the Plaza Park Royal. What are your thoughts on this hotel?
Thanks for your help

Hi
I last visited KL in 2005 - stayed at this hotel. Very convenient location for shoppin g and eating options in the Bukit bintang area, and it is close walk to the monorail. The hotel had been recently renovated and the room was large in size and had 2 double beds, and from memory was clean and nicely furnished. The breakfast buffet was good and had a good selection of Asian and Western food, including local specialties such as NasiLemak. Service was generally OK.
Found that the Sungai Wang shopping mall across the road from the hotel had quite a number of little "outlets" that sold copy DVDs - you flip through the files of covers and then they pull out the DVD from the backroom or somewhere else. Chinatown night markets also had them but not as good quality though. However in light of what others have said, don't know if Sungai Wang would still have these "outlets".
