Kerala trip

Hi there

I am planning a trip to Kerala end of December for about 12 days. I'm flying in and out of Kochi.
This is my itinerary for now:

Kochi - 2 nights 29-31 Dec
Munnar - 2 nights 31 Dec -2 Jan
Thekkady - 1 night 2 Jan
Alleppey - 2 nights 3-5 Jan
Verkala - 2 nights 5-7 Jan
Kovalam - 2 nights 7-9 Jan
Kochi - 9 Jan, flying back on 10th Jan

I wanted to ask do you think it's too much moving around? Should I stay more nights in Verkala and not go to Kovalam? or where should I spend more time instead? Should I go somewhere else if not?

Thanks for your kind input!

Remember that two nights is just one full day. And one night is just that - a night - no time to see/do/experience. I do think this is too much moving around.

I think you can choose either of Verkala or Kovalam and increase your stay time somewhere else. Adding more destination , I feel it will be too much. It takes time to get the feel of place. If you keep on hopping from one place to other it will just a tick mark on your travel map and kill the entire fun. Just my view.

I do not think it is too rushed in the Kochi--Munnar--Alleppey segment They are not too far from each other. BUT...you are going at a very, very busy time, so don't wait to make your accommodation reservations.
I assume you are hiring car/driver and not taking public transport.
Re: Thekkady, are you going due to interest in wildlife Know that it will be PACKED with families. It might be missable .
There are lovely areas you would drive down through between Munnar and Alleppey--if you want a somewhat quieter experience,. Check routing between Munnar and Kottayam, for example.
Haven't been to the beaches, but just one should be enough to get your beach "fix."

What is your goal? Do you want to relax and be on the water a great deal of the time? Do you want to spend a lot of time in the mountain region? While many love Kerala, for us, we should have condensed that portion of our trip as we were bored. IMO the Tamil Nadu region with its amazing temples, was far more interesting.

The OP has never returned to this thread since posting in October . . . Since the trip is supposedly planned for this month my guess is the plans have already been firmed up.
