Kerala Itinerary - Houseboat and Tree House Questions

Hi, all -- I'm taking a short trip to Kerala with my husband and two friends. We want to absorb the culture, eat great food, and see beautiful scenery and animals. Our tentative itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Kochi (a.m.), travel to Alapuzha (Alleppey). Stay on houseboat
Day 2: Backwaters. Stay on houseboat
Day 3: Travel to Thekkady. Stay in tree house
Day 4: Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. Stay in tree house
Day 5: Travel to Munnar. Tea plantations
Day 7: Travel to Kochi. Fort Cochin, Chinese nets

Does that sound like a decent trip? Also, about the tree house: does anyone know if Carmelia Haven in Thekkady is a good base for Periyar? I'm concerned that Periyar will be crazy touristy but Wayanad seems too far away for such a short trip.

I'm also interested in two-bedroom houseboat recommendations. Thanks so much for any advice.
