When I asked about this back in February or so, dogster was the only one on the board who had been to the area. I wasn't especially interested in the cruise, but the Diphlu Lodge looked to be THE place to stay in Kazariga. At the time were planning to go to Assam in November, but we changed our plans and will be in Sikkim and Darjeeling instead. Assam remains on our list, so I will look forward to your report!

Nearest airports are either Guwahait or Dibrugargh [or, even better; Jorhat]. You COULD train it from Kolkata or Delhi - but, it's a horrible shlep. Life is short; Jet Airlines or Kingfisher will get you to any of the above places for not very much at all.

I'm not a train guy. Catching a train from Delhi to Guwahati is like a train from New York to the Galapagos. Have you spent much time in India? Where are you planning on going just before Kaz and just after?
