I know of a hotel in Jaipur that organises great tours for all budgets.
You can approach them direct at
www.jasvilas.com

They hired a car for us and we did Pushkar, Deogarh, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bikaner, Shekhawati and Agra.
Mostly we stayed in family hotels and received excellent service at all places.

Good luck!

I'll ask this question here and may post it elsewhere. A co-workers daughter went to India in October. Almost immediately she became ill---lethargic--achy joints. SHe has seen several doctors. One doctor told her she had a parasite..and there wasn't anything she could do except wait for it to pass through her system. It has been 6 months now and she is not better. Has anyone gotten sick like this returning from India? Any advise? Any other website I can look at?

Hi Andy. I've long been wanting to visit India. Since I'm working and can only take 2 weeks off (2 1/2 max)what are the must see and must do's in India? What hotels do you recommend? I've heard a lot about the long uncomfortable bus rides? Is there any other way to avoid them but still see India? Thanks!

Don't worry about the horrific tales you read about bus rides. You need to take bus if you want to go to far flung areas. With only 2 weeks at hand, I am not sure you want to do that.

Try to concentrate your search of India towards the northern and southern sides. In North, I would certainly recommend the state of Rajasthan. It has beautiful palaces which would afford great photo ops. Indian Railways also have a trip called "Palace on Wheels". People say it is great. I think it is for 5 to 10 days. You will have to check. The only thing is that this "Palace on wheels" takes you through Rajasthan only.

Taj Mahal is in the state of UP (Uttar Pradesh) in Northern India.

There is another place called "Hardwar" in the state of UP (Uttar Pradesh) in Northern India. It is a holy town and the religious ceremonies there are worth capturing on camera. The visit to this town is a moving experience.

I have been to monastries in Leh-Ladakh and taken some great shots there. But I am not sure how safe is that area now. Suggest you avoid it.

Southern parts of india are famous for their temples and other such architecture.

You can do most if not all of these places by avoiding buses. You can take cabs or three-wheelers called "Auto Rickshaws". I strongly recommend being extra careful while travelling in cabs or auto rickshaws. Try to travel mostly during daylight hours. Better to be safe than sorry.

I am planning a trip (a week) to Delhi in December. I also want to visit Jaipur and Agra. Can you recomment a tour operator? Is it easy, cheap and safe to take a taxi or individual tour, is it expensive? Is it possible to book a daytrip by bus? Do I need to stay over there or can I take a return trip for one daY? Thanks

Do you have any suggestions
