Juanqinzhai

Jump to last reply

I'm not hopeful of getting a positive response, but I just wonder if anyone here has been in the Forbidden City's Juanqinzhai, or knows anyone who has?

The Juanqinzhai is a collection of rooms in a north-east area of the Forbidden City prepared for the retirement of the Qianlong emperor. If you've been on a standard tour of the FC, or wandered independently, you'll likely have been through part of his gardens, but not into the Juanqinzhai itself, which requires nearly-impossible-to-obtain special permission.

So why ask?

Because although it seems to have ceased now, for a while a certain number of tour companies were offering special access for a large sum, as were one or two top-end Beijing hotels.

So I'm wondering if anyone here took one of these special access tours, or knows of anyone who has?

Thanks.
