Japan in July?

Hello everyone! Is Japan going to be too hot/humid for a visit in end of June-beginning of July? My parents (in their 60-s) are planning a trip with my high school age kid and this seems the only school vacation time long enough for this trip. would certain parts (Tokyo?) be easier as far as heat than others to travel to? which places would be more difficult (best to avoid at this time)? thanks in advance for the comments.

I was there in June-July last year and found the weather pleasant. I'm also in my 60s!

We visited Tokyo, Hakone, Nagoya, Kiso Valley, Takayama, Kanazawa, Hiroshima and finished in Kyoto. I was in shorts and polo/tee shirt everyday but found the weather comfortable. A lot of people on this site comment on the heat and humidity in Cambodia and I have no worries there.

There was a bit of rain but nothing to worry us. However the weather is a fickle beast and never does what you expect! The important thing is to keep your fluid levels up.

It would also depend on where you are coming from. I'm a farmer in southern Australia and have to travel in our winter so there is a fair variation in temperature.

Personally I'd be happy to go there again in June July but I'm not you! I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and think it would be great for a high school aged kid. There is a big Anime museum in Kyoto that may be of interest. Not to mention the huge video game parlours.

The other thing to consider is starting site seeing early and then having a siesta in the middle of the day.

I tutor some Japanese in English and they all say that Trader Joe's reusable bags are a rage in Japan - take several to give out perhaps - I found it hard to believe but they all say Trader Joe's fabric bags are a complete rage - my students are planning to take dozens back with them!
