I am planning a trip to Sri Lanka but I keep reading about how the Tamils blew up the airport in 2001. What is the current situation. I have the option of going to Bombay instead......would this be a worthwhile option?
Thanks,
Is Sri Lanka safe now?

There was a ceasefire earlier this year, so it should be safer than it has been in years. Parts of the north and east that were previously off limits for a long time are also now opening up. If you want some ideas of nice places to go in the historically safer areas have a look at our ideas at www.i-escape.com/srilanka.php i would opt for sri Lanka rather than Bombay at the moment.
