Not only visiting the Golden Temple, but the whole city of Amritsar is so interesting and exciting to be in, for at least a couple of days! It is so very different to what you see elsewhere. It is throbbing with life, vitality. The narrow streets, the old havelis built by wealthy merchants, colourful knick-knacks...delicious Amritsari food in huge portions at Bharawan-ka-dhaba...Fish Pakoras at the Lawrence road...the chaiwala on the queens road!!
The best way to visit is to take the horse-drawn buggy, as it was done before partition days when the markets of Amritsar fed cities as far as the Khyber.
Not for nothing all the famous hotel chains are eyeing this place.
Amritsar is a winner!!
Enjoyed your blog and your beautiful pictures.
@vp_singh: Yes. Amritsar is a great city and the Punjabi hospitality is legendary. I'd like to visit the city again and I hope to check out the places that you recommend at that time. My last trip was only for a day. Next trip, hopefully will be longer! Thanks for reading and responding.
@dgunbug: Thanks for the appreciation.
