We are traveling to India in the future. I noticed on the Travisa Outsourcing website regarding tourist visa requirements that it is necessary to get a Protected/Restricted Area Permit to travel to Rajasthan?
Is this permit something new?

Wow, this was not something I even saw! I don't have it, and am traveling there in 6 days.
Did anyone else who recently traveled to Rajastjan need this?
It looks like it's only necessary in a restricted area of Rajasthan. This is a link to a TripAdvisor discussion on the same topic:

Definitely a showstopper, though, reading this and knowing I'm leaving in 5 days and not having even noticed this on the Travisa website!
Just got visa this week. Went to Travisa office in NYC. I had listed the usual GT cities, Agra, Jodhpur, Jaipur,
Udaipur...no mention of need for special visa by the two Travisa officials who reviewed my application. Visa received on Friday.
Elainee,
Glad to know that even Travisa official don't mention it. Much relieved! I had another pre-trip panic moment!

"officials"
(Can you tell I'm a little anxious now?)
Looking forward to your trip report to give me latest info for my February trip.
Elainee,
When will you be leaving? I'll be back on Feb. 9th, so my trip report may take a bit of time. But I'll be happy to share whatever I can!

Leaving NYC Feb.6, return Feb. 27. I will be checking my ipad in India. Would welcome any suggestions.
I'll do my best to add my 2 cents during or after my trip. Though I must say, there are many amazing trip reports on this board, which I've used extensively in planning for my own trip.
