Trip Ideas
The nearest tea plantation to Rajasthan is in Dharamsala / Palampur area. Some of the colonial bungalows have now been converted into hotels. These bugalows were a part of the tea estates & some of the bigger ones also have the tea processing factory on the estates. I was in Dharamsala third week of March & stayed at the White Haven Estate, which locates in about 1200 acres of tea gardens. The manager took us to the processing factory where the first flush Kangra tea was being produced. BTW,Kangra tea went on to win the London Gold Cup (1886) & the Amsterdam Gold Cup in 1895, for it’s taste & distinctiveness. There are also some great walks around Dhramsala / Palampur & Tibetan Cultural destinations.
The Tea House tours are being conducted in the Darjeeling area where the tourist gets to interact with the labour, planters, managers & tasters. These are for a duration of about 7 - 10 days. October will be time for autumn flush.
Very best for your plans!
