In BKK Again

Off to a good start. Snagged a free upgrade to business class. Pays to be nice. Delta flight from Japan arrived an hour early, waved throughan empty diplomatic line, bags first off the shoot. No taxi wait. Minor delay at hotel check in, but out the door and shooting pool by 1215. Went to an after-hours place after the police check went by. Coyote dancers and a thai guy who kept buying rounds. Couple of red hot dancers forced me to show them some sexy moves (the crowd was laughing with me, right?) on the floor, and eventually made me an offer I almost could not refuse, but, and this was a big but....discretion finally won out in the end. Roads not taken

Damn light came in the room at 0630. Damn my head hurts! Drank a bottle of water and dove in the bed for a few more hours. Breakfast was fine, mostly coffee and juice, and toast. Worked out for an hour, and going for a swim in a few minutes.Got my sights on a two hour oil massage later today and a movie. And then who knows...too many options..

Good to be back.

don't assume, for one moment, that all visitors to BKK do what you do vino. Sometimes too much information is err... too much information.

I am also in BKK. I'll be watching every move you make.

OK.... so both vinovino and the dogster are in BKK right now. Will either of you still be there on the 20th???? I'll be heading to the PL that afternoon to catch up with Maeng. Hope to meet up, if possible. Who will show up?????

Oil massage was great, followed by a light lunch, and then a foot massage and another swim before dinner. Ate at an Italian place on Soi 33 and shot some pool before going to the Holleywood club. 400 baht to get in but that included two drinks. Very loud and packed. I liked it and will go again. Variety of singers and dance acts, plus some hot coyote dancers as well. DJ kept the energy level up. Maybe too high. Do you think it looks less than manly to throw your hands up in the air and shake your booty like a gecko got in your pants? Lady-boy spotting contest was a side-show. Those Japanese guys always seem to take them out in pairs.

Carol, I may be back around the 20th, leave soon for Cambodia.

rhkkmk, I stayed on Soi 29 at the Lagacy Suites. Very nice budget accomadations. Fairly new, nice pool, small, but adequate gym. Breakfast and internet comes with the rate. I paid 4100 for two nights and had a small studio with a king bed. Good sound-proofing.
They are doing some constrution work across the soi, but I never heard any noise inside the room. Breakfast was okay, not a grand feast, but not bad given the room price. Staff was very friendly.

Just followed your link. The advertising, room decor, etc. reminds me a lot of 'my' Adelphi on soi 8. I'll bet they have the same ownership.

Leaving Sunday for BKK!!! (first class)

carol, it does remind me of the Adelphi. I think you would like it, but for it being a bit removed from a skytrain station.

This trip (starts Sunday) I'll be staying part of my BKK time at the Adelphi in a deluxe one-bedroom rather than the executive one-bedroom and always get. I'm curious about this one. It's slightly smaller than what I always get, but with a different view (I think) and it also has the washing machine which I use at least every other day.

Carol, the laundry on Soi 8 is so cheap. I've had bad experiences with the dryers at Thai hotels. Took me forever to dry items.

vino, I don't use the dryers. I wash in cold and then hang my laundry all around the apartment! And yes, the laundry on soi 8 is really cheap, I agree. I stayed in a studio on one of Adelphi visits, about a year ago or so, and it was great but no washing machine. I used a laundry place between AS and Sukhumvit, on the opposite side of the soi. Really cheap. But I sometimes worry about giving the laundry some of my items that might shrink if they don't wash in cold... so I do it myself.

(off topic...) Dr Jack (did you meet him?) says that Maeng may not want to leave BKK and go to Samui with me for a few days. I hope that's not true. She needs a break!

Well, he dines at the PL several times a week. I hope to see him again on the 20th for dinner there. He 'sees' all sorts of people, Thais, expats, travellers, you name it... on soi 4, during the afternoons at Annie's, by Raja Hotel. Now, if he suddenly gets barraged with people, I'll be hot water for disclosing his location... Most assuredly, an interesting man to know in BKK! And yes, he's a med dr. He can explain what he 'does' if you meet him sometime. Tell him I sent you!
