Imperial Hotel Delhi Question
I was looking at the Imperial Hotel web site trying to figure out if the Heritage Room I have reserved is the best option. A non-smoking room with a king bed and late check out has been confirmed for our trip in February. From all that I have seen, read and heard, it sounds like a very nice room. However, the web site also mentions a "Grand Travelers Floor" on the north wing of the hotel with extra amenities usually associated with "Executive" or "Concierge" floors in other luxury hotels. Does anyone know how the rooms on this floor compare in size and features to the Heritage Room I have already reserved? I know I can contact the hotel directly but I have come very much to rely on this forum for first hand information.

I do not know the specifics of either room but one general comment is re view from your room. One part of te hotel overlooks the main street of Janpath which is not IMO a great view. Another overlooks the hotel which is nicer. Ask them what your room overlooks and what your options are.

Can't help with the room comparisions but I will tell you this - we stayed at the Imperial a few years ago and it is a great experience. Particularly taking meals on the terrace. Lovely character hotel.

I just looked at the website to see if they had a map, as my advice would be to avoid rooms looking over the porte cochere (i.e., where the cars arrive) as this can be noisy. From the website, it looks like the Grand Travelers Floor is the ground floor at the back, which is very quiet, looks onto greenery, and would be a good choice. The free airport transfers and the free American breakfast might offer real value, how much more do they charge for the Grand Traveller Room? Have you priced out breakfast and transfers separately?

We have a pretty good price on the Heritage Room which includes breakfast but not transfers. The price is quite a bit lower than the $300/nt quoted on the website for the Grand Travelers Floor. The long list of other amenities and the quietness of the GTF is very attractive to me, although maybe not enough to justify the extra cost. I'm thinking I will try to do better through my agent if the rooms are equal in all other respects.
