I just got a ticket and I'm leaving in 12 hours!

Last week I found out that the kids I've been teaching outside Siem Reap are going to be dancing the hula at the Angkor Wat International Film festival this weekend. Unfortunately, I'm recovering from a painful Rotator Cuff injury and a flu, so I knew I couldn't go.

It was the responsible decision, but it was very painful as I have been teaching these kids hula for years. These country kids will be dancing in one of the swankiest hotels in town, in front of not only an international film crowd, but a well known entertainer from Hawaii as well.

Today, I realized that I HAVE to be there to see my kids have this moment in the spotlight. It took me 5 hours of playing on the web, but I finally found a ticket that will get me to there by Friday morning. It isn't easy to line up all the moving parts from Hawaii to Siem Reap when the travel takes about 30 hours, and you only have about 45 hours to get there.

Now I'm praying the weather holds up!!

Wonderful decision! I'm sure it will be worth every bit of the hassle it took to get there.

Yeah!!! Lucy, I remember the advice you gave me in a lovely get well card.... buy a plane ticket to somewhere exotic and packs some good strong meds. You go girl! Very happy for you.
