With six nights choose one area, either HCMC and the surrounding area of Hanoi and the surrounding area. You could visit Hanoi and Halong Bay OR HCMC and the Delta.

We were in Hanoi at that time of the year and found the weather very pleasant. You can take a look at www.weatherbase.com to see the historical weather patterns in both areas. If Halong Bay is a must-see for you, it may be foggy and cool at that time of the year, though you might get lucky and get glorious weather. We found plenty to do in Hanoi to keep us busy for a week.

It will obviously be a lot warmer in the South but Hanoi should be quite pleasant up too. Rather than Halong Bay, have you considered either Ninh Binh or Mai Chau. Both are a reasonable distance from Hanoi.

Some photos of our last trip to Mai CHau http://blog.travelpod.com/travel-blo...8042/tpod.html

Haven't been to ninh Binh yet but it comes highly recommended and is high on the list for our trip in Nov/Dec.

Of 3 destinations, Ho Chi Minh is more favorable to me though it depends on what types of traveler you are. If you like beach and island atmosphere, you can easily access to other tourist attraction in Vietnam from HCM such as Phu Quoc island, Vinpearl in Nha Trang, Da Nang…For you intend to visit from the end of Nov and beginning of Dec which is rainy season in Da nang and Nha trang, you can spend time on Phu Quoc island after travelling from HCM. What do you think about this itinerary?
Day 1: you can visit the museums such as HCM museum, Ton Duc Thang museum, Ben Thanh Market, City’s Post Ofice, The Cathedra of Notre Dame. They are all within 2 km radius. In the afternoon, come across Tao Dan park, Turtle Lake, Le Van Tam park…
Day 2: Take buses to visit Cu Chi Tunnel. After that, you can go Suoi Tien or Dam Sen and try water games in water parks there.
Day 3: Visit some famous pagoda: Quan Am Pagoda, Jade Emperor Pagoda….and then spend time on tasting a variety of foods and buy some souvenirs.
Day 4: After 32 minute flight from Tan Son Nhat airport, you will land in Phu Quoc isand and enjoy the different atmosphere from HCM. Visit Truong Beach, watch fishermen doing their work and try some raw seafood.
Day 5: Enjoy vacation in Sao beach. The beach is very calm with service in good quality.
Day 6: Visit Tranh stream and Magic Well. There are beautiful landscapes of a lake with mountainous and green backgrounds. On the mountain, there lies a small temple and a pink stone armchair, also known as the King’s armchair.
Hope you will have enjoyable vacation there.

Molley must be a VN travel agent. No one who is a traveler would recommend that kind of itinerary!

@ Kathie: On what ground do you think that I’m VN travel agent. Are there any links to advertise for certain TA referred there? Pardon me if I recommend too many tourist attractions for one day. Just want OP not to miss some highly recommended places in VN. Not wise to jump to that conclusion.

...on the grounds that your one and only post on this site is a ridiculous and terribly recommended itinerary that no one could ever accomplish in that amount of time...unless they pumped themselves full of speed and cocaine.
