Hua Hin Hotel

I've read several posts on here for recommendations in Hua Hin. I'd appreciate an update on the Marriott, Sofitel or other similar accomodations. Thanks.

I have stayed at both the Hyatt and the Anantara, both of which are lovely properties. Personally, I prefer to be out of town, though some others on this board like the Sofitel or the Marriott which are in town. I have posted long reviews of both the Anantara and the Hyatt if you search on this board.

marriott is on the edge of town...it is small comparitively and easy to get back to the room or out to reception and back to the pool or beach, where some others are very spread out....

the rooms are average, but i think the facilities are top notch..the beach is at its widest out front and there is nice sand....as i have said many times it is my choice....

what kind of update were you looking for??

I'm finally finding November prices for the Marriott on the discount websites (hoteltravel.com, siam-travel.com, etc.). Wow have they gone up --the best price I can find is now about $150/night for garden view, $175 for seaview (inclusive). The price on the Mariott website is a little higher, $167 including tax for a garden view with breakfast.

The Hyatt is still $141 standard, $181 for a Regency room (including tax but no breakfast with their standard room). The Hyatt advertises best prices on their website and I think it's true.

With airfare being so high for us (from the Middle East), I think we might have to go someplace else for our November holiday! If anyone has suggestions on how to get better rates, please share.

That's interesting ... I put in December 5-10 on the Marriott site and it shows that the rates drop significantly on Dec. 8 (from 142 to 109). I wish I could postpone my vacation, but it's not possible. I wonder what's so special about November.

Try www.huahin.20m.com to see what rates they have.

Am back in Bangkok from a week trip and stopped twice in Hua Hin so will update all of that tomorrow.

Thanks for your help.

I'd also like to specifically thank the regular posters, e.g., Bob, Kathie, JamesA et al.. Your suggestions have formed the basis for much daydreaming and trip planning.

I've stayed in Sofitel Hua Hin in this June. We strolled along the beach and road to Marriot in later afternoon and considered Marriot quite enticing. We would like to stay there if we would return.

Sofitel is quite ok in its facilities but I think the rooms needs a bit of renovation. The Sofitel in Siem Reap is more appealing.
