How to spend 2 weeks in Japan?

My parents and I decided to see Japan someday soon and want to see the most beautiful places in Japan. We thought flying into Tokyo and then going to Nikko. After that we are blank. What would you recommend for gorgeous sights in Japan for two weeks. We will be taking the train from place to place. Thanks!!
