I don't know what they are charging now, but a while back a friend of mine took advantage of teh package and it was a real deal.

Of the hotels you listed, the only one I've stayed at is the Westin Stamford. It was nice, service was good, and it has a great location - right in Raffles City (a major shopping center) and the MRT stop is right there.

Yea, sama-sama as Kathie. I'm not familiar with the Hilton, but I've hung out at the other three hotels; and the Marina Mandarin and Westin Stamford are excellently located. Grand Copthorne is elegant, but it is way the heck on the outskirts and not handy to the MRT (Mass Rapid Transport).

As far as I'm concerned, location is 90% of the game when it comes to a brief stopover. You want to see the city.

My vote is for the Westin Stamford or the Marina Mandarin. I don't think you'd go wrong with either.

Enjoy,

Bali Lama

Has anyone stayed at the New Otani Singapore -- seems like a great location at a great price (US$98). I have never stayed at a New Otani, but they seem nice. I apprecate any feedback.

Otani is next to the Singapore river. It houses Daimaru (Jap Superstore, mini version). It sits in Clark Quay so if night life with lotsa food is a requirement, you can't go wrong here. There are however, many other better locations. First off, public transport is a pain. Nearest MRT is about 2 km away. Weather here is hot (33C).

Choose Marina Mandarin. Most of their rooms have a spacious balcony with a sea view. The service & location are fantastic. We loved our stay there!

I stayed at the Plaza Hotel on Beach Rd. It is a very nice 4 star hotel and it is very affordable compared to the Westin, Raffles, Hilton, etc. The location is central to everything within minutes walk/drive.

If you want to stay near the shopping district, look for any hotel located on Orchard Blvd or the surrounding streets(ie. Marriott, Holiday Inn, Westin, ...) This way, you won't need to take public transporation everywhere you go.
