Hotel Suggestions - New Delhi

Hello,

I will be coming to New Delhi, India for 10 days next month for a conference. I am planning to arrive a few days ahead of time to explore the city by myself. So I was looking for some hotel suggestions and ideas about good neighborhoods to stay in. I will be traveling by myself and am looking to stay in an area that is accessible (somewhere that I can walk to shops, restaurants and is transit accessible). An area that is safe for female travelers and not too noisy. My budget would be about approximately $150 CDN per night. Hoping to fine somewhere with a free breakfast, free wifi and who can arrange airport transfers.

Does anyone have some suggestions for me? Please let me know. Thanks!

Sassy, does it have to be officially a "hotel"? There are some fantastic smaller, modern guest houses that "check all the boxes" of wifi, bkfst, and airport pickup. The advantage to these also is you will likely meet fellow travelers more easily, which can be fun, interesting, and if you want, give you the chance for company on your excursions. I've been "solo" in New Delhi on several occasions, and felt perfectly safe in the places I'd recommend.
CDN $150 is equivalent to USD $115.

As a local, I would would say you should search for hotels in central delhi ( areas like connaught places ) as most of the places you may like to visit are nearby and easily accessible.
And for booking hotels, you can search for your choices on websites like oyorooms and trivago etc. You might get some discount as well . For any help you can reply here

Have a nice stay in Delhi....

Take a look at the Lutyens Bungalow. I've stayed here a couple of times, a charming alternative to the numerous hotels in New Delhi.Practically a home away from home, in a leafy suburb close to Lodhi gardens and not too far from interesting places.

Khan Market too is close by and a interesting place to shop and dine, From Kebabs to Couture, you get them all there. Soda Bottle Openerwala, which was discussed in the forum is there and so is Smoke House Deli, Barcelos. Fashion exist at Ritu Kumar's Boutique, Anokhi, Deepika Govind and various other outlets. Can easily spend a better part of a day there.

Yes we are going to the Golden Triangle on a tour in November. We will be arriving Delhi 3 days early on our own. Are there any areas to avoid staying in? We are looking at the Hotel Surya International since we will have upscale lodging the rest of the tour. Also there seem to be a lot of 3 star hotels which are much cheaper than the larger hotels such as the Hyatt. Any comments?

Remember that an Indian 3* hotel is not the same as a European 3* - there is no universal accreditation system in India so anyone can describe themseves as anything they like. To be sure of a consistent standard you have to stick with the major brands like Marriott, Sheraton, Meridien, Hilton etc - and pay handsomely for the privilege. Surya International is a good hotel - you will hopefully not be disappointed.
