Hotel suggestions Haeundae beach area Busan

My daughter has a 4 month gig playing piano at the Park Hyatt in Busan from mid October to mid February. DH and I are planning to go and visit her (we live in New Zealand), at New Year, arriving in the evening New Years Eve, leaving on the 7th Jan 2015.

The Park Hyatt is a above our budget, we are more 3 star travellers!!! We would like one close enough to the Park Hyatt that we can go and hear our DD play most nights and then walk back to our hotel after the gig finishes at midnight. I realise it will be winter.

We have made a cancellable booking at the Hotel Foret which is at Haeundae Beach and I think it is about a mile between hotels. The Park Hyatt is in Marine City close to the Gwangan Bridge. We are seriously thinking about staying the first night at the Park Hyatt as it will be 9pm or so before we get to Busan, and want to catch up with our DD that night. It is possible that DD will be able to get us a reduced rate but this may not happen on a popular date like New Years Eve.

Any recommendations appreciated.

Another option is the Seacloud Hotel, which is across the street from the beach and a few blocks away from the subway. It was basic, but clean. We paid about US$150/night.

Thanks trip planner I will take a look at the Seacloud. Is there a subway around the Park Hyatt area do you know that would take us to the Hotel Foret. I have tried to search but I think the nearest subway station is the one at Haeundae beach itself.

You're welcome. The Haeundae station is the closest to the Park Hyatt. Not sure if the subway to Foret makes sense; you may be better off with a taxi ride or even catching a bus.

The S-One, near the Haeundae subway stop, would run you aobut US$88 a night, which is about right for Busan. I have not stayed there, but it looks like a nice place:

The Park Hyatt is out on its own in a marina area, fairly isolated, even from the nearest subway stop, Dongbaek. It's a pretty good hike, so taxi is your best bet.

Thanks shelemm I will take a look at the S-One.

I have been looking at some AirBnb places close to the Park Hyatt. I have found one or two that are about 5 minutes walk away so will investigate them further.

We looked at the Hotel Foret and the rooms were small. It is about a mile (easy walk) to the Hyatt and the subway station for Haeundae is in the opposite direction so it would not work. Right around the corner from the Foret is the Sunset Business Hotel where we are staying. Have a look at our review of it: http://travelingloveaffair.blogspot....at-sunset.html

The Sea Cloud is very expensive. Closer to the Hyatt is the Haeundae Grand Hotel and it looks (big and) good. We have been in Busan for over a week and would be glad to help answer any questions you might have. BTW, the best restaurant we have eaten at during our 2 month trip to Korea is in Haeundae: Yeyije Korean Restaurant, 1150-8 Jung-1Dong, Haeundae-Ku, Busan, South Korea, tel. 051-731-1100. We each had one KRW 44000/US$44 set menu and it was wonderful as was the service and the ambiance.

Thanks so much aledm. We have actually found a place on Air BNB about 5 minutes walk from the Park Hyatt. My DD walked to it yesterday. It is a building which has a fountain in front of it, and an Italian Restaurant, a Vietnamese restaurant called The Pho and a bar called Guinness I think. I have just seen a photo of the front of the building.

If you like jazz standards, my DD started her gig last night at the Park Hyatt. She plays from 8.15pm -midnight, Monday through Saturday.
