Im arriving in Bangkok at 11:30pm and would like some advice for booking the first nights accomodation, maybe somewhare central to some action or just as an easy base to kick off my travels.
I was told that the Montien would be good??
Also wondering the best way to get a transfur from the airport to the bangkok? do the hotels organise this ??

Bars close by 2 a.m now !!
Taxis available downtown, I would never recommend the Montien. Hotels will organise transfer but always more expensive.
What is your hotel budget? Tower Inn is good value.
I dont know what the prices are for all the diffrent hotels as yet. I guess as a budget goes anything up to ? AUD$100.00 or US$70 but if that gets you something ritzy im not really into that either, just a place to sleep, that is clean, safe and central.
how much should i expect to pay for a taxi from the airport to Bangkok
Hello Paul,
I have booked at Pathumwan Princess in March coz my travel agent never stops raving that it is the best in its 3 star category. PP is centrally located near Siam Square and they have also recently opened Tantara Spa which looks very inviting. You can check them out at http://www.pprincess.com. The rate is about US$50 a night. MBK, a huge shopping complex is attached to the hotel and you can access it thru the lobby. I heard the foodcourt on the 6th level have excellent local flavours.
As for transport by cab, it costs about 200-300baht into the city without traffic but you can look at other means of transport at http://www.bangkok-city.com/airport.htm
