Don't know of a luggage outlet, but I've bought a no-name suitcase at a local shop off a busy street. Quality varies, you have to know what to look for. You can haggle down the price at small shops.

A good place is also the department stores that sell products from China, or other local department stores.

The high-end brand names ones are not much cheaper than buying it at home (assume in US) on sale or online.

Agree with mmyk72. the brand name luggages may not be much cheaper than buying at home. But there are several shops on the street selling un-branded luggage with much cheaper. You may come across the shops when you do your sight seeing or shopping. So, don't need to find one specifically.

Hy,

thx for the tips - I come from Austria, Europe. But anyway, I'm not really looking for brand names - so I'll be just fine with the shops I'll hopefully come across when shopping - we're going to stay at the New Renaissance Hotel.

If you're staying at the New World Ren, you'll find loads of shops selling off-price luggage in the Carnavon Road area. There's also a very good luggage store in the neighborhood on Mody Road in TST East, between the Shangri-La and Nikko hotels. Remember, at virtually all independent shops you should pay a substantially lower price than whatever is marked on the luggage.

Yes, it is okay to bargain, even at a shop in a mall. And if they can't do anything, they'll politely tell you so. You will not offend anybody, except perhaps at the most high-end stores.

I mean, if one can bargain for a taxi fare, why not luggage too?
