Hong Kong Kowloon side hotel
I am looking for a a decent hotel (preferably with a pool) somewhere near the suburbs of YauMaTei / TsimShaTsui where I have friends on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong. Anyone got any good suggestions?? (Timing, end August 08; Budget, say US$100-200/night.)

I like the Salisbury YMCA too, great views and good location, but have to note that the pool is indoors. Some people don’t like that, esp in summer when the expectation may be that you could lie outside by the pool. There is some outdoor space at the Salisbury, but not by the pool. The pool is very large, however, Olypmic size I think.
Have you asked your friends for reccos that would be near to their flat? In YMT, the Eaton (http://hongkong.eatonhotels.com/) and the Metropark Kowloon (http://www.metroparkhotels.com) might work, both have outdoor pools.
FYI, Yau Mei Tei and TST are not “suburbs”, you are right in the city (of Kowloon of course), and if I am not wrong, it is among the top 2 or 3 most densely populated places on the planet.
I also assume you know that the equistrian events for the Olympics are in Hong Kong from August 8-22. You may find hotel prices higher if your trip concides with that.

I always recc the Kimberley - I have to stayed in the Ym but I have walked around there. It seems nice, but reminds me of my frugal student days. The Kimb is more business-like - if that is your liking. Could not have a better location and rates are good.

There are sooo many hotels in Tsim Sha Tsui. You won't have a problem finding one. I stayed at the B&P International House. The rooms were ok-a little small. But the hotel had 2 restaurants (a western and eastern one) and a bar with internet.
