One of the best resorts in Maldives for honeymoon is One&Only Reethi Rah. I just got back 2 weeks ago. One word, AMAZING

If you only have a week, IMO you won't be able to get to anyplace that is cold in that short time as well, as there ain't much "near" the Maldives. I also don't know if you want a city or really cold snowy mountain winter weather and outdoor activities. Go to weatherbase.com, and click on "Vacation Finder". Enter in the month you want to travel, and the minimum acceptable temperature. It will show you where you can go.

I would get a non-stop to Tokyo (9 hours on Sri Lanka air) and head to Hokkaido or Kyoto by train.

You could fly non-stop to Frankfurt in about 10 hours and then go by train into the mountains in southern Germany from there (although these would be 5-6 hour train ride I think to get to ski areas) or just stay in Frankfurt if you just want cold but no mountains. You can get to London in about 12 hours. You could fly to Munich in 13 hours with one change and from there be in a lovely little city like Salzburg by train in less than 2 hours, and could get up into the mountains for a day or more. Places like Geneva, Zurich, Milan will take you like 15-18 hours and several changes, and from there you would need to get a train for a few hours if you want to get to mountain areas, not sure if this interests you. Other than the Alps or Dolomites, Italy is unlikely to be really "cold", mostly cool and rainy.

I don't think I would go to Nepal right now, and that would involve a lot of changes of planes anyway. Bhutan is another thought, again that would involve several plane changes. But I see from your other post that you are from Mumbai, so maybe Nepal or Bhutan does not interest you as they are close to home.

Hi

The Maldives is amazing. We went to a place called Sun Island and it was beautiful. I have posted a trip report with pictures on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com/sun_island_index.htm . If you want to combine it with something cold try the indoor skiing in Dubai

Regards
