All beach time? Let me suggest you split your second week between Penang (Georgetown) and Langkawi. The Georgetown area of Penang has perhaps the best hawker food in the world. Stay at either the E&O or Clove Hall in Georgetown.

Are you ok with that much rain? It doesn't usually rain all day, but more likely a big downpour in the afternoon. Also note that the seas will be rough and beaches may be red-flagged. If that doesn't discourage you, note that you will get great rates at luxe resorts since it's low season. If it was me (and it isn't) I'd opt for Mom Tri's Villa Royale in the Dao-A-Dung room.

Langkawi will have similar weather, a bit less rain.

If you want better weather, I'd suggest Koh Samui in Thailand or Bali, Indonesia.

nature adventurers and you can explore a lot of marine life there plus the white sand beaches and peaceful countryside.. I suggest that from Thailand, you take a flight from Thailand to Manila, Philippines then enjoy great selection of food from there (try the spiral buffet at Sofitel Plaza Manila)then head on to Palawan for an ending relaxation getaway. Don't forget to luxuriate on each other as you're on honeymoon and if in case you feel to stay on one location for the rest of the 2 weeks, it's certainly fine as you shouldn't be up for so much travel and enjoy each other's company instead.. ENjoy

i would second georgetown as an alternative spot---look at clove hall hotel--very lovely---2nd floor rooms are lovely..

in thailand i would consider the jw marriott in khao lak or the le meridien.. both are a one hour drive north of phuket airport.. marriott has really good food. there are many restaurants in the town too--very cheap---www.marriott.com

rent a car at phuket airport (i like pure car rental).. easy drive..

Though a little difficult to get to some of the best snorkeling in thePhillines is in Ek Nido. The waters yet are not yet affected by coral bleaching and the harmless sharks with a guide are very interesting to swim with.

If you really like nice beaches, try Krabi in Thailand over Phuket or Koh Samui. I recently was at the Banyan Tree in Phuket and the beach was nice, but not one of the best I'd been to. The quality of beaches in Krabi was much better. I stayed at the Tubkaak and highly recommended it. Next door is the Ritz - Hangover 2 was filmed there. I haven't been to Langkawi, but I heard the quality of the beaches isn't great. Best beaches in Asia are in the Phillipines and the Maldives.

One other thought is the Redang Islang Islands and stay at the nicest place there(also mist expensive (the name excapes me but it begins with a B, the are 2 but the more expensive one-about $325 for 2 with meals, where we stayed) offered good food, nice beaches, good snorkeling and even better diving. It is a 45 minute flight from the city airport (not the international airport) and no hassle. It is quiet but we met some nice people that were from Australia and England. Check the rain in July. I think you are in good shape for the Redang's dry season is April to Sept.

Thailands fantastic so you made the right choice of definitely going there. I have not been to the Phillipines but I have been to Malaysia and really enjoyed it. I stayed on phi phi island which is just off Phuket and really enjoyed it! There is tons to do and is beautiful however it was quite busy so if you want a quieter island I would maybe consider Koh Yao Noi island which I was told is quiter. Have a fantastic time!

You should find out the staus of the coral bleaching in Phuket, Phi Phi Don, and the best snorkeling is the Similians (I think they are still open, I know they are closed by late August).
Malaysiaas not bleached as much from what I read.
