Has anyone been to Himeji Castle recently? We were planning to visit en route from Hiroshima to Kyoto March 21, but now reconsidering because of the renovations. I'd appreciate any up-to-date info. Thanks!

I think it was Mara who posted a link on one of the recent threads that allowed you to see recent construction pics. From what I saw, the castle was fully covered in scaffolding. Not the metal kind that allows you to still catch glimpses of the structure, but the canvas kind that has the same effect as if you placed a giant canvas bag over the castle. You saw nothing but the bag. I took Himeji off of my November itinerary because of that.
