I don't know of it but experience suggests that if it is close to CM or CR, is likely to be very touristy and somewhat exploitative of the people. To get the "authentic" experience you really need to get a long way away from either city. If you are going to Mae Hong Sorm, Fern resort have a relationship with a community based tourism project which will probably provide a better experience.
We have realized that, yes, to get an authentic experience we would really have to trek 9-12 miles in the mountains (hence--"hill" tribes) and this is something we would rather not do in the tropics. So, we will have Charlie take us to a village to meet some of his cousins and that will be it. Thanks for your help, as always!
