Help w/Andaman Sea Itinerary

Hi There,

I will be going to Thailand this January and I will spend one week at the Andaman Sea... I need help with my itinerary.

I am going to fly to Phuket on Saturday and spend one day/night there and then I am going to do a 3 day/four night sailing trip that ends in Koh Phi Phi on Wednesday. I will still have two more nights and I can't figure out where I should stay. My original plan was to stay on Koh Phi Phi Wednesday and Thursday night and then venture back to the airport on Friday. However, everything I am reading suggests Koh Phi Phi is overcrowded and the beaches aren't so great, even on the less crowded east coast. Not to mention I'm not seeing any hotels that look great, most look very run down. I don't need five star, but I would like something clean and maybe with a little charm. Also, I will be by myself so I want it to be convenient to getting around and convenient to restaurants... I enjoy local food and a few drinks, but I'm not into the party seen.

Other thoughts if I don't stay in Koh Phi Phi would be to:

1) take the last ferry back to Phuket and spend my last two nights there or
2) take the last ferry to Ko Lanta and spend my last two nights there or
3) take the last ferry to Krabri and spend my last two nights there and fly back to Bangkok from Krabi

The first night in Phuket and the sailing trip are set in stone, but open to suggestions on what to do with my time from Wednesday early afternoon to Friday evening.

Thanks in advance!!!

Have a look at the Nai Yang beach area for your last couple of nights. It's a 5 minute taxi ride from Phuket Airport, so v.convenient for your exit flight.

If you exit international flight is from Bangkok, then it's sound advice to spend your final night in Bangkok.

Thanks, I'll check out Nai Yang beach. My sailing trip ends in Phi Phi on Wednesday early afternoon and my flight from Bangkok leaves at 1am on Saturday so I should be fine to fly back to Bangkok on Friday afternoon and I could fly out of either Phuket or Krabi, I don't have a reservation for that yet.

Zeavola hotel is perhaps your best bet on Phi Phi, there are a couple of others on that beach as well, it is quieter but you will need to either get a longtail back to the ferry port or catch the hotel boat back to RPM which is approx a 30 to 40 minute drive to the airport.

Nai Yang, Mai Khao or Laguna area are the closest to airport on Phuket, 5 to 20 minutes.

You could also go off Phuket up to Natai which is a great beach and quiet. Aleenta hotel is very nice.

Either way make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get back to either airport....weather and traffic could cause you problems.
