Can anyone help regarding the relative health safety/dangers among various Asian countries? Or steer me to a good book or article? I've found a lot of information on India, but not on other specific countries. (Call me a wimp if you want, but it's a concern...) I'm less worried about Malaria, for which there is prevention, than things like Dengue Fever for which there is not.
I'm particularly interested in Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Vietnam, KL
Many thanks!

Take a look at the cdc website and read the recommendations for each of those countries.
The safest country by far is Singapore. Both Malaysia and Thailand have excellent medical care available, VN and Bali less so.
Choose cities that are clean and have good medical facilities as noted above. Avoid mosquito bites as best as you can. Not all strains of malaria are prevented by malaria pills. You should stay in areas where malaria prophylaxis is not needed.
