We are in the process of trying to pick which Maldivian island to go to after a week in Sri Lanka. Every Island looks so wonderful, how do we pick?? Has anyone been to Vilamendhoo? If so I would love to hear if it was as nice as it sounds. The other islands we have as a choice are: Magayafushi, Vilu Reef Beach and Meedhupparu. Please help.........

Are you a diver? V'doo is nice -- rooms and food are decent, staff is friendly. There is a house reef right off shore (20 to 100' out). Good marine life at the house reef, but there is a lot of coral bleaching from el nino. There are better house reefs in the Maldives, but there are many not as nice as well. Boats take 15-40 minutes to reach the better dive sites. It's a dive oriented resort, so there isn't much else to do -- they run a couple of snorkel boat trips each week, fishing, etc.
Filatheyo (spelling?) is owned by the same people, and is a bit more upscale: food was really good, spa facilities available, staff was excellent. The overwater bungalows are outstanding -- steps lead down from your deck directly into the water.
Also heard that Eriyadu is very nice.
