nitsha, we were there in Oct and stayed 2 nights at The Elizabeth hotel - close to Orchard Rd shopping. A very nice hotel with all facilities, pleasant pool area and you can use the hotel facilities near the pool after checking out (we had a late flight the night we checked out). Also got a taxi to Mustafa's - a different shopping experience with some bargains to be found. A Night Tour of the Singapore Zoo cost SGD 20-45 which was great fun getting on & off the tram. Our guide was so funny.
Have a look at the following site for more ideas:

There's a lot there to do. Enjoy it.
Hi Nitsha,
if $ is not a problem,u may want to stay in marriott or hyatt hotel at orchard road, central of singapore.and from there u can walk along the streets for shopping. Or take mrt to bugis parco shopping centre and remember to visit bugis village!there are small alleys selling clothes, bags etc or opt for a sunny outing to sentosa(if its a sunday, head for sunset bay!many teens are there playing volleyball etc!)u can take a bus to sentosa from orchard, tink is abt S$3 .or go east coast,u can cycle,or sun-tan!or marina south to fly kite!..if u r into clubbing,u can go boat quay, mohammad sultan or fullerton hotel (1 fullerton)!u got to check it out more!go www.sbs.com.sg or www.tibs.com.sg to check the transport.
Rgds,
Jean
