With the caveat that this GTG, lovely though it will be, pales in the shadow of rhkkmk's Boston extravaganza. (And apologies for usurping the Asia boards with a post about New York City-!)

i am interested... keep me informed
i have my hotel res, we're in
bob
Bob, keep me informed. I promised a friend on Long Island that I would try to visit her this summer. Maybe this GTG and a trip to see my friend could be combined???
carol--come east young woman...
Awesome, Bob! Glad to give you a reason to visit the Apple. I can provide a list of ice cream and gelato vendors to help keep the humidity at bay while you wander the concrete canyons.
Carol, I hope you can join us too!
Ordinarily we'd consider it, but we will be in RI that weekend. Have fun...
We'll miss you, Craig. Bob, I've emailed my friend on LI to see if a visit around the 13th will work in her schedule. Hope to hear back by this evening.
I'll try really hard to get to NYC for this GTG.
Carol
Just heard from my friend re: 13th. Looks like I'm coming!!

I'll be there! Hopefully Mr. laurieco can be there too.
laurieco, that's great! I remember meeting you at the one Boston GTG I've made it to so far.
I added you and the possibility of Mr. laurieco to the post on the US board.
Looks like we'll be at least 20 people, including Amy_D and some other Fodor's staff. Amy said:
<< Hi everyone - we're really excited about this GTG! I'm working on a list of who can attend from our HQ and we'll be bringing along some goodies for this as well. We just got a new shipment buttons that I think you might like. Here's a sneak peak http://instagr.am/p/KNe_SGnE85 >>
Unfortunately Mr. laurieco cannot make it. He's coming home from D.C. That day but he's flying into Albany. I'll be there though and we'll both be at the Boston GTG of course.
Thanks for the update, laurieco. Is Mr. laurieco flying into Albany so he can go play the horses at Saratoga?
Love the buttons! I've never met any staff members before, so a real treat is in store for me!
NYwoman says she will be coming as well.
mrs gpanda (beth) will now be joining the group too
Hmmm, is the NYC GTG going to over-shadow the BOS GTG?? Looks like pretty fine competition!
This is very exciting!! Bob, please tell Beth we are very happy she'll join us!

And Carol, I'm all for a little friendly competition if it means we'll get more opportunities to see more of everyone.
no way, we are still the BEST
We are also bringing Maureen-the red headed irish - from Bos with us. Looking forward to it.

BOSTON RULES!!! (Only for Fodor's GTG's, though)
Very glad to hear that Beth is coming!
ggreen, Mr. laurieco lives in Albany. We have a commuter marriage. He works for NYS and so we own a house in Albany. I work for NYC and I live in a coop here.
is it true that eric took in the romney's dog after the canada vacation?

WOW THIS IS GREAT!!! Sounds like between this board and the US we have about 35 people coming to our "event". Ok now we need a "name" for our events, not just a GTG.
I am so looking forward to meeting all of you.
TRAVEL FOR ALL REASONS

Looks like we're about 30 people for the NYC GTG this Saturday! Looking forward to meeting new faces and re-meeting those I met a few years ago.
If anyone else wants to join us, let us know!
i know of one nyc family who probably will sign on tonight
Thanks rhkkmk, the more the merrier! We're making nametags tonight (though of course we'll have supplies to make more on Saturday). You can send me their names if you think it's a good idea - same email address of mine that you've used before.
Oh, bummer, I just saw this! Would love to go (live here in NYC) but have made plans to go to Summerstage with friends (great music in Central Park if it doesn't rain it out!).
Have fun and I look forward to going another time!
Paule
progol, that looks to be a great show - I only heard about it after we set the date for the GTG.
Since the GTG is on the UWS, you could always stop by for a cocktail en route to Summerstage... might make waiting in line there that much more tolerable-!
And I'm really hoping it doesn't rain!! But if it does, now you have a plan "B"! Your friends are welcome too, of course.
Another NYer who missed the date. Sounds like a fun GTG--already have plans for Saturday, but hope to make another one.
Have a great time!
Sorry 520 to have missed you too! This has definitely been a learning experience. rhkkmk has been so helpful in topping our posts - one of many tips I'm sure we can learn from him going forward.
The positive response to this GTG has been tremendous. I'm very much looking forward to tomorrow, and to making this a regular feature on the GTG "scene"!
