Hanoi or Hue

Hi everyone,
Thanks for all the help so far. I have made some changes to our itinerary thanks to your suggestions. We are finalising our itinerary at the moment and I am trying see if I can possibly squeeze an extra night in Hanoi but it means only 2 nights in Hue as a result, instead of the original 3. So here is the revised itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Hanoi 09.50
Day 2: One night Bai Tu long Bay Cruise
Day 3: Hanoi
Day 4: Hanoi (this is the day that I have stolen from Hue- Should I?)
Day 5: Hue
Day 6: Hue
Day 7: Hire driver together to see sights and transfer to Hoi An
Day 8: Hoi An
Day 9: Hoi An
Day 10: Phu Quoc (Fly from Danang)
Day 11: Phu Quoc
Day 12: Phu Quoc
Day 13: Ho Chi Minh
Day 15: Ho Chi Minh
Day 16: Ho Chi Minh
Day 17: International flight home

Though we have only a very short time in Hue, our plan while there is mainly to do an Easy Rider type trip to The DMZ because we really want to experience an easy rider trip (even if it is just a few hours) and my husband is really interested in military history- The reason I want to retain the 3 nights in Phu Quoc is because the weather may not be great in early November in Hoi An and we would really like to unwind for a few days on the beach as part of the trip. We are meeting up with family who live on the other side of the world at various stages of the trip so not very flexible.
Do you think I should keep the extra night in Hanoi or move on to Hue and have 3 nights there? Any suggestions for a motorbike trip to the DMZ?
Thanks for your help as always..

I'd keep the extra night in Hanoi - so much to do and see there. You have so little time in Hanoi, even with moving that night from Hue to Hanoi.

I second keeping the extra night in Hanoi, absolutely. Add more if you can. Hanoi is an all-time favorite of mine, spent weeks there and plan to return for more.

Hi there, you definitely should stay one more night in Hanoi, there are many night activities you can take part in especially on weekend. For one day and one night in Hanoi I would recommend the following activities:
- Duong Lam ancient village
- HCM’s mausoleum
- One Pillar Pagoda
- Ethnology museum
- Night Market
- Bia Hoi or a Cooking Class

Thomas must be a travel agent as no one else would try to cram that much into one day!

Definitely Hanoi. Hue is very quiet with not much to do.

Thomas' suggestion of bia hoi....that could be an all nighter! (with a correspondingly long headaches to follows the day after hehe)
