Greetings amazing Fodor forum sleuths!

1) Can anyone give me an idea of how long it takes to taxi from a little hotel in Old Town Hanoi to the airport?

We will be returning to Hanoi from our cruise on Halong Bay in the late afternoon and can't decide if we should go back to our hotel in Old Town for the evening, or if we should grab a hotel closer to the airport.

Our flight leaves at 9:20 the next morning.

2) Stay in Old Town? If so, evening entertainment and food is built in (perfect!) and how long taxi to airport?

or

3) Stay in a hotel closer to the airport (we will have been in Old Town for 2 days prior to Halong Bay)? If so, where? And is there anything new to explore in that location in the evening before we leave?

It takes around 30 mins from the old town to the airport so I would go for the extra night in town,

Definitely stay in Hanoi, not out at the airport.

Took us closer to an hour with traffic.

Took us 45 minutes, but regardless, I'd stay in town. There are no decent hotels near the airport.
