Hanoi Hotel

Anyone stayed at Hanoi Golden Moment Hotel or Golden Legend Diamond Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam?
I plan to visit Hanoi and Halong Bay on this Nov, 2016. Any recommendation?
Thank you for your help

Depends on your budget to what recommendations you're prepared to look at.

I'm going to Hanoi in February, so have been doing a fair bit of homework, and have decided on Hanoi 3B Homestay in the Old Quarter. I've been recommended the place, and it looks very reasonable.

I've also been recommended...

Little Hanoi Hotel
Essence Hotel
Artisan Boutique
Splendid Star Boutique

If you want to go to Halong Bay, then from what I've researched you get what you pay for. I've been recommended Adventure Indochina Travel. Every hotel will have their own tour desk, and it's not in their interests to sell you a poor product, but if you go for a cheap 1* option then your experience won't be the same as a 4* option.

Make sure you stay overnight on a boat in Halong Bay.

I can recommend the Hibiscus Hotel, stayed several weeks and liked it and the neighborhood very much. It kind of depends on what you're looking for in a hotel and where. Hibiscus is owned & run by a lovely woman and when I return I'll stay again, or in one of the apartments she now offers.

We stayed at the Essence Hanoi in the old quarter........quiet rooms in a busy part of Hanoi. Good walking sights as well as eating.. In the middle of their culture.

We will be there early November, booked the Marvellous, new boutique hotel in the Old Quarter. We booked with Indochina Junks the Dragon Pearl cruise to Bai Tu Long Bay for 2days/1 night, an extension of Halong Bay that is less traveled, less junks and quieter.

We've stayed at the La Siesta and loved it. No complaints. People are great, rooms comfortable and the food top notch.

On a punt, we've also stayed at the Golden Sun Villa (near the cathedral) and it was pretty generic but fine... except for the food. That was a mistake.

Like Dragon88, I I stayed at Essence Hanoi, and also next door at Essence d'Orient. They are right next to each other--even share the dining room where you have breakfast. Both excellent. Essence d'Orientt is a bit less money. You can get balcony rooms there that look down onto Beer Corner (or international or backpacker corner--it seems to go by many AKAs). Great fun.

I did the same cruise Shanghainese booked: overnight on Dragon Pearl to Bai Tu Long Bay. Enjoyed and glad i did it; found two days one night the perfect amount of time. the trip from hanoi was about four hours--broken up with a half hour stop at one of those "buy buy buy" emporiums. The trip was in Indochina Junk's comfortable minivan with wifi in it, so the travel time passed quickly
