Hakone station confusion

I am traveling from Tokyo to Hakone, staying two nights, and leaving for Kanazawa. When I put my starting and ending points in Hyperdia, it keeps asking me whether I want the Yumoto station or the Itabashi station. Everything else I read talks about what I think is the Odawara station, which Hyperdia doesn't even mention. What am I supposed to type in for the station I want to arrive in and the station I want to leave from?

For Hakone, you want HAKONE-YUMOTO which is an Odakyu Railways station. Odawara has both Odakyu and JR.

You can be more specific than "TOKYO" for your departure station, depending on where you are staying. Where are you staying in Tokyo?

... Odawara station, which Hyperdia doesn't even mention.
Yes, it does. Just start entering in Odawara.

Where are you staying in Hakone?

To keep it simple: find your way to Shinjuku station in Tokyo and then take the Odakyu Railways train from Shinjuku to Odawara for ¥880. Buy your Hakone Free Pass in Odawara (as rkkwan suggested on another thread, as you won't be returning to Tokyo). Use the HFP to go out and about and return to Odawara to get JR to Kanazawa.

Looking at Hyperdia, I get the following routing for you from ANA Intercontinental to your Hakone ryokan:

From Tokyo you can get to Hakone easily from either SHINAGAWA or SHINJUKU.

SHINJUKU OR SHINAGAWA to ODAWARA
ODAWARA to HAKONE-YUMOTO
HAKONE-YUMOTO to TONOSAWA

(TONOSAWA is showing as closest station to your ryokan)

Shinjuku is probably easier because you could get a taxi to Akasakamitsuke Station and it's direct from there to Shinjuku.

I didn't take any taxis in Tokyo, so not sure on costs, the other option is to taxi direct to Shinjuku or Shinagawa...

Ichinoyu
http://english.ichinoyu.co.jp/honkan/access/index.html

*Spa association shuttle bus is also available at Hakone yumoto station.

< From Hakone Yumoto >
Please take Hakone tozan bus(bound for Tougendai : 桃源台)and get off the bus at Kami-tonosawa :上塔ノ沢. It takes 3min and costs 170yen. After that, get back the main street for 1min. You will find Ichinoyu Honkan on your left.

ANA Intercontinental

http://www.anaintercontinental-tokyo.jp/e/access/

There are 4 subway stations nearby. The closest is TAMEIKE-SANNO.

I would take the subway from there with one transfer to Shinjuku, get the HFP at Shinjuku and pay the ¥890 surcharge to take the Romance Car limited express to Hakone-Yumoto station. I would expect that the free shuttle bus would be there waiting for the Romance Car trains.

There are many other routes that you can take to Odawara and save a few hundred yen but travel time would be longer.

¥170 subway fare
¥5,640 3-day HFP (assuming you do the loop)
¥890 Romance Car surcharge
