Hakone, Kamakura and Atami
Since we plan to visit Hakone, from the map I see Atami and Kamakura are not far away from Hakone. I am thinking maybe I can stay in a hotel in Odawara and visit Hakone for one full day and then visit Kamakura and Atami in another day. Is this a doable plan?
But I don't know whether there are any JR lines from Odwara to Kamakura (since I have JR Pass)? If not what's the best way to get to Kamakura and back to Atami in one day?
Also one tour book mentioned there is a beautiful lake in Izu called Ippeko, but I could not find where it is and how to get there?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

It certainly is doable. You can take JR between Odawara, Kamakura, and Atami. At JR Kamakura station you would get a train on another line, Enoden if I remember correctly (low cost) to get to a station that is a walk from the Daibutsu.
I started a day in Moto Hakone, at Lake Ashi. Took the boat across the lake, the ropeway, funicular, and train to Hakone Yumoto, then bus to Odawara. From there I took JR to Kamakura, the Enoden train to/fro, then JR to Atami to get to a ryokan to use their onsen. Then JR to Shinjuku. It was a busy day, but the transportation connections were ridiculously efficient.
I remember one of those train trips well. Three little schoolgirls boarded with a woman. One girl sat next to me and the other two faced us, with the woman sitting across the aisle. The girl in front of me was bold and asked three questions in English, each one eliciting much giggling from her friends: what is your name? where are you from? what do you?

From Odawara to Kamakura you take the JR Tokaido Line down to Ofuna Station, at Ofuna Station, you change to the Yokosuka Line to Kamakura Station, trip takes about 50mins~1hr. If you want to travel any more into Kamakura, eg to see the large Buddha statue then you will need to pay addition for the Enoden train.
Atami is a shadow of it's former self, but if you want to visit it from Odawara you can take any KODAMA Shinakansen , or Odoriko Limited Express direct from Odawara to Atami Station. The trip is 8 minutes by Shinkansen, 20 minutes by regular train. Very close, so it does not matter really which trains you took.
