My Danish expat friend took me to a fantastic restaurant this afternoon on Sathorn Road. It is Aldo's on the sixth floor of the Ascot Sathorn. It is the best place I've been for lunch in this town.
A three course set lunch is 350 Baht. There are several choices for each course and the food is Italian. It was fantastic. The restaurant looks out over the pool area which is beautiful. Check out the gym as well. It is the nicest one I've ever seen.
I forgot to check rates, but it looked like a great place to stay.

Stayed there for 4 nights in a 1 bedroom executive suite for 4244 baht/night in January, but never managed to eat at that restaurant. Room was nice with a large sitting area and fully functional kitchen. The pool is pretty nice and as you said, the gym is excellent! It was about a 10 minute walk to the BTS and just a little more than that to Vertigo/Moon Bar and Baan Khanita.
Yeah, there was a write-up and photo...if I remember correctly about that restaurant in one of my Thai magazines that I picked up at Kinokuniya in Emporium. I think that was last December. I had it on my list, but didn't get around to trying it. I remember looking at apartments in that building a couple of years ago, but didn't know about the restaurant then. Happy Travels!
