Four Seasons Singapore...marmot?
I saw in another post that the FS Singapore is like a second home to you...
The FS reservations staff has advised us that Premier corner rooms are the best choice for us (2 adults, one 9 yo child w/extra bed), but in pictures I've seen the deluxe rooms look nicer.
I'm hoping you've seen the various room setups there and can tell me which you think would be best for us. The various suites look lovely, but they are a budget stretch and I really don't think we'll have need for the space with the various things we'll be doing away from the hotel....of course, if there were a great deal to be found I'd book one...

Kim, sorry I've never noticed the difference between a deluxe and premier room. I can't remember ever having a corner either.
The room I always get must just be the deluxe. It's plenty big enough for a couple and a child. The staff are very agreeable about removing superfluous furnishings, like end tables and extra chairs. (We were just thinking that it's high time they switched over to flat screen TVs. Ditching those enormous armoires would really open up the room.)
It's been some time since we stayed there with our son but I seem to remember that the sofa was converted into a bed, but maybe that was in the suite.
I wouldn't spend the extra money on the suite as you won't be in the room all that much. One thing about the suites that I really disliked was that the bedroom had no window.

Thank you! The bedroom having no window is a definite minus for us, so I certainly will not book one. I think I will book the premier room and then ask to see a deluxe if one is available when we check in and decide from there. We are there for 6 nights, so the extra size of the premier might be good, and the price difference between premier and deluxe is very little.

You might want to look at the Regent which is another hotel run by the 4S in Singapore. Location is quite near the 4S and the executive suites at S$375 a night are much less expensive than the 4S. Service level is on par with other 4S hotels I have stayed at and there is plenty of space in the executive suites. You can use a sofa bed or rollaway bed for your daughter. (we used both) One marble bathroom with one sink and toilet and another marble bathroom with combo bath/shower/toilet/sink. Two desks, two TV's. Usual safe/minbar/coffee/tea etc. L'Occitane
toiletries. Hard to beat for the price and we had plenty of room for two adults and two teenagers.

I have thought about that, and haven't ruled out the Regent. I have seen and heard some comments about the service at the Regent being not as good as at the 4S proper, even read of some people saying the staff was rude (of course, who knows what the people who made the comments are like). What was your experience? Did you happen to take photos of your suite?
I drive my daughter and husband nuts with my indecision about hotels and which rooms...good thing we've got loads of time for me to think long and hard about it!

I stay at alot of 4 and 5 star properties when I travel and my experience at the Regent was similar to my experiences at other 4S properties. I was talking to a friend of mine today who I had to talk into staying at the 4S in Maui and his experience at the Regent in Singapore a few years ago was similar to mine. I do get the sense that the 4S is a newer property and if price was no consideration a better hotel, but for the price differential I think the Regent is a no brainer. I picked the Regent as we have 4 people and I had the choice of a executive suite at the 4S or two rooms at the Ritz or Fullerton etc. I choose to save a few hundred $ a night. I mean, how bad can a 4S run hotel be? I am glad I picked the Regent as it was just fine.

I've just got an email from FS Singapore offering airport "mmet and greet" and transfer to the Four Seasons, the rate is $112.35 SGD or $131.61 SGD (between 10pm and 7am).
I've read that a taxi into town should cost around 25 SGD so hotel transfer looks a littel unnecessary unless "meet and greet" involves anything particularly exotic!
On the other hand as we land at 6h10 AM perhpas taking the hotel's limo might up our chances of getting early check-in...? or is that just wishful thinking..?

I just stayed at the FS and arrived quite early and had no problem with early check-in. The hotel was not full and were having various specials due to the downturn in the economy. It's a lovely hotel.

Have of course asked for earlycheck in but was worried we might still have to hang around until 3pm
but ressured by moremiles message and will take the taxi into town.
I guess landing at 6h10 (Singapore Airlines) we should be in a taxi by around 7am and at the hotel by 7h30 no?

Possibly even earlier since the luggage is usually waiting for you as soon as you get to baggage claim and there were no crowds anywhere or long waits-they will take your temps quickly as you pass thru also.
