Finally, Smeagol and Muffins Japanese adventure begins.....
Well we made to Heathrow after a VERY stressful morning.. ( local motorway closed, cat needed dropping at the cattery, builders arrived at 7am)
Anyway as I write I am at the Qatar lounge waiting for the flight..
We are really looking forward to this trip
3 days Tokyo, 1 night Hakone, 4 nights Kyoto, 4 nights Phuket and finally 2 nights at my fav or fans Bangkok.
Very excited to go to Japan as we have never been and even more excited to be meeting up with Billy and David in Japan Bob, Karen, Pook and Dang in Thailand, can't wait to see you all x
I'll try and post from the road!

Wel were are here and we had the BEST night thanks to Billy and Dvaid, we arrived after flying via Doha. 25 hours door to door!!!!... The Park Hyatt is lovely. Went for tempura in Shinjuku with the gorgeous Billy and David, then went for drinks in a teeny tiny bar in Golden Gai called Albatross...thanks to the boys for sorting the evening out. Muffin and I finished off the evening having a couple of cocktails in the New York Bar....
Tour tomorrow with Tokyo free Guides, I'll let you know how we get on. X

Well done, Nicky! (and other esteemed Park Hyatt Tokyo dwelling Fodorites; I so love that property).
Rather rushed this pre-SQ flight Saturday morning at Changi (very brief holiday, followed by 'on the road' for work), but do wish to send best wishes for joyous Japanese times. Richly deserved!

Busy busy 2 days in Tokyo with The FW's...
Yesterday just M & I had a tour of some of the sites with a Tokyo free guide. ( she was lovely) it was tough going a times as only managed 3hours sleep the night before... But met up with Y at 9am and got back to the hotel at 6 pm. First of a brief stop at the fish market, then the local shrine... Walked to the beautiful Hama ........... Something gardens ( which we enjoyed) and then caught the ferry to Asakusa... Y took us to a very tiny Ramen place a few blocks from the main tourist centre, it was delicious. We then went up to the observation deck and took pictures of Senso Ji ( sp?) and then found out a Geisha performance was on so waited around for that.... The shamisen player was around 90!! muffin did not enjoy the experience.
Then went and had a look around the lovely Senso Ji temple and then caught the bus to Yanaka!!!! By the time we got there we were shattered. Had a nice walk round Yanaka ( which we liked) then had to call it quits around 5pm. Got the subway back to Nishiki Shinjuku and got lost trying to find the hotel..... Dinner in the Peak lounge, fell in to bed exhausted!
Day 2 Tokyo
After a great nights sleep and a full 6 hours, Lovely breakfast in the Park Hyatt, then met the FW's and walked to the gorgeous Meji Shrine. Saw a couple of weddings processions. the Meji shrine is simply lovely. ( although i dropped my small camera here and broke the lens, so now we are stuck with the I phone and a DSLR) Walked on down to Harijuku and spent a few hours just strolling round this great neighbourhood ( the main bit we didn't like so much but Cat street was a favourite - narrow streets with cute boutiques) mid afternoon noon M & I headed over to the famous Shibuya crossing and had a quick look around thusvare ( think leicestervSq in London!) Quick pre dinner drink with FW in the peak bar.
Out for dinner in a really lovely area ( I don't know the name) We all wish we had know about this area so we coould have gone in the day. we have all noticed that Japanese restuarants ( actually anywhere indoors) are heated to Carribean temperatures... Seriously we were melting. Night cap in the famous New York Bark Park Hyatt....
Early wake up call tomorrow.... Early train to Hakone.....
Have enjoyed our very brief stop in Tokyo, maybe 1 more day would have been good!
Not sure when I will have free WIFI again, will catch up then.
