Event Help Please

I'm at the stage of finalising my plans for next month however some event time frames have me somewhat confused and I can't find the information anywhere online

I've got no idea how heavy the crowd or length of queues so i don't know how long before starting time i should get to the events. The tickets are already reserved/booked but need to be collected :

6 P.M. 21st May Jingu Stadium, Tokyo Yakult Swallow V Hanshin Tigers.
Pay for and collect reserved tickets at the ticket box.

4 P.M. 24th May, National Theatre Tokyo, Bunraku performance
Obtain booked/paid for tickets from ticket machine at box office

I also can't find information on the National Theatre or Swallows website about the usual duration of these events.

Your help is much appreciated

<<I also can't find information on the National Theatre or Swallows website about the usual duration of these events.>>

The Swallows are playing a baseball game. The usual duration is the length of a baseball game plus whatever pre-game pageantry or ceremony they attach to it. US baseball games are about three hours from first pitch to last out but G-d knows there's no set rule for how fast or slow the bloody games go. "Game time" in the US means that is when the national anthem is sung, the teams then exchange lineup cards and the starting pitcher begins his on-field warmups. A 7pm game usually starts at 7:07 or 7:08 and goes past 10.

The Swallows had the lowest attendance in their league last year and average about 25-26k people per game.

We once were (outside) a Boston Red Sox game that ended at about 1 am. The good news is that you can leave a baseball game when ever you want.

This is from TripAdvisor:An afternoon at the National Bunraku Theater was a highlight of our trip to Japan. Bunraku began in Osaka and is drawn from kabuki theatrical traditions. It uses elaborate puppets--large ones, maybe half the size of people--and scenery to act out serious dramas. The main repertoire seems to be from the 18th- and 19th-centuries.

The most important caution I want to give is that the performance we saw was absolutely not designed for very young children: a performance lasts about 4 hours, and the 2 pieces we saw involved mass murder, sexual betrayal (as a plot element--no, there was not puppet sex), and demonic possession. There was a family program listed for the morning which we did NOT attend, and that appeared to be more light-hearted. I can imagine many kids, say, 11 and up loving the spooky bloodthirsty dramas we saw, but families with small children should be careful to inquire about the family-friendly programs.

We rented the English audio, which I strongly recommend for English-speakers who don't know Japanese, and it was great: it not only summed up key action and dialogue but alerted us in advance to watch for some exciting effects we are glad not to have missed.

The puppets are amazingly expressive, and the whole event (which includes shimasen accompaniment and a narrator as well as the skillful puppet handlers--3 handlers to a puppet) was quite stimulating and gripping even though we do not understand Japanese.

A few tips:
--There are refreshments in the lobby during intermission, but there are also very long lines at the restrooms: make a plan if you hope to take advantage of both.
--We highly recommend a ramen restaurant almost directly across the street from the theater, but we didn't get the name of it. It's a little hole-in-the-wall in which you buy tickets for ramen dishes, but the ramen was amazing and it's perfect for just before or after the performance.

Although I can't answer either of your questions, it might be helpful to know that the tourist-y show at Gion Corner in Kyoto includes a 20-minute bunraku segment. I enjoyed it!

<<We once were (outside) a Boston Red Sox game that ended at about 1 am.>>

That happens - rain delays, extra innings.

Won't happen in Japan absent a rain delay (Jingu Stadium is open, unlike the Tokyo Dome or Sapporo Dome) - the teams are capped at three extra innings and games can end in a tie (exceptions for Japan Series only). No 15+ inning marathons during the Japanese regular season.
