Etihad Airways to BKK? From East Coast USA.

Good afternoon

I am finally getting my act together. The prices are similar but not for the same airlines. KAL has jumped 500 bucks but Etihad Airways is around 1200 bucks to BKK from IAD.

Thoughts on this airline? Spring an extra 500 for KAL? Or is there a better one to take to BKK? KAL had the advantage in that it was only one stop. It also was 1100 bucks previously and I should have jumped. Of course this is coach and I should think about whether I want to subject myself to that, too...

Thanks for any thoughts...

ps. versus ANA with a stop in NRT. That is 1400 bucks.

Etihad would stop in Abu Dhabi.

flygirl, when are you going? Prices change all the time. If you can do a one-stop, that will be the best and easy to do from IAD, lots of flights - less stress with connections and would be worth the extra to me, if it came to that. Unless your flight is in the near future, keep checking for one stop itineraries. All of the airlines are fairly terrible in economy and I have never subjected myself to the long Asia flight in economy, except for a trip to Hong Kong many years ago (but things were different then). Some airlines offer an economy plus or premium economy option with more legroom - you might look at that.

I was at Abu Dhabi airport a few years ago and it was not one of my favourite. If you're flying economy I suggest going elsewhere to transit. Out of the 3 airports in the area, Dubai, Doha and Abu Dhabi, both Dubai and Doha (the new Doha airport) are much, much more comfortable and will make transit seamless.

Fly girl, have you looked at Eva air? ( do they fly from where you live?) I believe they used to to go from New York. They do a very good PE product. ( although lately I have thought their prices were creeping up)

Etihad aren't my favourites. Good in the air, but their ground staff service at Abu Dhabi is poor, especially if you have to suffer a delayed connection.

@Craig<<<And that is exactly what we do - we use miles that we obtain any way we can.>>>

Now you've written that I understand what you meant. I apologise.
