We have heard this agency is really helpful in planning Japanese itineraries. Anyone had any experience with them?

Trip Report - 5 1/2 days in Luang Prabang

Yes and I give them and A plus plus plus. Nancy Craft who does their independent tours is absolutely fabulous! Probably the best travel person I have dealt with in 30 years of travel. Use them-- you definitely will be very pleased.
I am sure she is good, but we found her extremely expensive. We were basically paying thousands for making hotel reservations and obtaining a Japan rail pass, both of which I ended up doing myself easily on the Internet. We were hoping for much more individual planning and provision of private guides. I am sure she would be wonderful for someone who didn't want to spend time researching.
Odd. We did an enormous amount of research before we even made the call and she was invaluable in terms of telling us about places not in guide books, setting up special meetings etc.
