English Speaking Guide/Drive in Kuala Lumpur for 3Days
My wife and I need an English speaking guide/ driver with a late model A/C "compact" sedan to take us to destinations as far as 100 miles from KL on 1 day, 50 miles on a second day and then half a day to some side streets in KL for antiques.
We want a professional who is insured and really knows their way well outside the city.
I have been quoted $200/day for 8-9 hours including gas but that seems high in KL.
Any suggestions and recent experiences are welcome.
Thanks.

That price does seem very high. If I were you, I'd just wait until I was in KL and ask the hotel conceirge for recommendations. That's what I always do, and I've never had a bad experience with it.

Katie; Unfortunately the concierge desk uses a service at the Ritz Carlton in KL that wanted $250/day (max. of 9 hours)and $150 up to 5 hours. That is $650 for 2 1/2 days. I was expecting to pay 1/2 that amount.
My Executive Deluxe room with full American breakfast for 2 at the Ritz-KL is only $155 Nett/night.
That's why I need help.
I cannot wait until arrival since we arrive at 7:30PM at the hotel and only have 3 full days of touring before we leave for 6 nights at a resort in the Redang Islands.

Where do you plan to go on your day trips? Batu Caves? Melaka - a place for antiques? Are you being quoted in US Dollars or Malaysian Dollars? Personally, I think it is very high if it is in USD. My suggestion:
1. Read up the places you plan to go.
2. Get a taxi or a hotel limo to take you to the places you want to go. Make sure you get a price from them before you set foot into the car.
3. If you prefer, speak to one of the local tour operators, for example, Reliance Tours directly.

Malaysia is a safe country and English is their 2nd language.
Happy travelling!

100 miles - Ipoh ?
50 miles - Melaka(Melacca) ?
You are paying too much. You can do all the 3 days for less half of that, with good meals included.
When are you arriving ? Maybe I can offer some help.
Be extra careful of pickpockets and robbers when you walk around.

Hi,
2 or 3 of the best local chinese hawker food is outside the Ritz-KL(2 or 3 mins walk) in the evening for US1 to US2. Don't miss if you wish to sample what locals eat. Let me know if you need any recommendations.
