Hi again,
Am I right to assume that Easter Sunday will not have a major impact on things being closed in Bangkok? If it does, maybe we'd be better flying to Siem Reap that day. Thanks for enlightening me.
Easter closings in Bangkok?

thailand is not a christian holiday and most things will be open as normal... only offices close on sundays
Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist nation so no extra closure for Easter Sunday.
We do celebrate Bob's day.
thank god someone does
You guys are the best! I love how you give such great answers in record time!
Tuesday April 6 2010 is a public holiday in Thailand. It is Chakri day, which is the celebration day for the current ruling dynasty. I believe it is a fairly major holiday, although I have not been there for celebrations. It probably won’t affect anything on the Sunday, however. The most important holiday in Cambodia, the New Year, begins on April 14, so you may run into closures associated with that (smaller family restaurants, etc) if you plan to go to Cambodia later in the week.
Thanks for the additional information, Cicerone. We'll be heading to Siem Reap on the 5th so will avoid that...and we'll be safely in VietNam during the Cambodian and Laos New Year celebrations.
