Do US citizens need Visa's to visit Malaysia for 10 days ??

We are US citizens w passports, and will be traveling in Thailand for 3 weeks and then 10 days in Malaysia-KL and Redang Islands.
Must we have a Visa in addition to our passport?
If we have Hepetitis A & B and tetinus shots do we need malaria pills before, during and after trip? I don't see it on CDC list for Bangkok, Chiang Mai region , Koh Samui, KL or Redang Islands (staying a 4 star resort, but may eat out locally on that island) in Malaysia.

Orgy's "no" applies to both questions.

just thought to warn you that redang is not like langkawi in that there may not be places to eat out at on that island.

that was the case anyway back in 1997. its a small island with some really beautiful beaches, quite good diving and snorkelling but not much else in terms of activities.

thought i would introduce a site where you can check out tips from other tourists to redang. tips seem to cover many subjects.

hope you find it useful.

hornbill, Katie and all. Thanks for feedback.
To hornbill: are other hotels in Redang Island better dinner food than Beryaya Beach Resort at equal or lessor prices??
Thanks again.

youre welcome stankase

i didnt stay at the coral redang island in 1996 but it had just opened and i liked the look of it. i cant comment on their food though. they are on a beautiful beach and there are other hotels (the laguna redang resort)that you can walk to so there may be more choices of food. it is a small hotel, not like a berjaya chain.

the berjaya is more isolated i think. i did have friends who stayed at berjaya and had a good time though

i dont know if things have changed with the change in local government to the more 'liberal' UMNO but the hotels did not serve alcohol before. so, stock up on your own wines or beers before you go.

the website for coral redang is

http://www.coralredang.com.my/

We stayed at the Berjaya in 1999. There are no other hotels or restaurants near by. The other hotels (Coral Redang & others) are a boatride away or a 30 minute walk through the rain forest. The Berjaya was not terrific, but neither was the Coral Redang. There are, however quite a few places to stay, mostly backpacker type. This was 1999, so the picture could be different. Check web sites to see if there have been upgrades. Alcohol was available at the Berjaya.
