Day hotel @ Suvarnabhumi?
I've heard lots of chatter in the past about a "day hotel" (one that rates hourly) at Suvarnabhumi...know there used to be one at the old Don Muang. Whether a new one is in-the-works, open now, or not happening: I know not.
Problem is, for our upcoming Laos/Vietnam trip we may route through BKK on EVA (which would arrive BKK at 2 AM). Normally, I'd opt for the Novotel, but at well over $200 a night, it's a little too rich for my taste to spend that much for what only amounts to a 7 or 8 hour layover (our flight to LP would leave at noon the next day.)
Any knowledge about this--or suggestions for alternatives? Thanks!!

It's called Louis Tavern and they do not take reservations but operate on a walk-in basis. If you are willing to take the chance of there not actually being a room there at 2:00 AM then consider it a good option. Me...I'd book the Novotel or a hotel in the city - at 2:00 AM it will take no time to get into the city.

Actually, they do take reservations, and are sometimes fully booked. You can fax to +66 2401 9311 to try to make a reservation.
That said, rates start at $50 for 4 hours in a basic room and go up from there. The Novotel is less than $200 a night (it's at $169 including taxes at Agoda.com). You could be looking at well over $100 for the day room, and the Novotel is much nicer.

Michael, I just checked Agoda and for our dates (in early November) it's $230 a night...just as I was finding elsewhere. I'm sure the Novotel is much nicer--heck, it sure LOOKS nicer. But for $100 vs. $230, I might be leaning towards Louis Tavern. I have a feeling we'll be so blasted from jetlag, we won't really even notice the difference.
