Datong hostels & tours

Hi, I'm looking for some tips for Datong.
My friend and I are traveling to China for the first time in September. After Beiking - we're planning on taking the day train from Beijing West Station to Datong. We'll be arriving in mid-afternoon and would like to get settled into an affordable hostel/hotel and then book a tour for the next day. And then hopefully see some of the sites within the city that we can figure out my ourselves.

Any suggestions for hotels/hostels?

Any suggestions for 1 day tours? Should we just look for signs by the train station? or wait for our hostel/hotel to point us in the right direction?
